Hello, folks!

We´ve been away for a while, but not for our laziness, for being very busy.
Work, family and our dedication to the little brothers keeps us busy, no matter if it´s a day off or a national celebration.
So here is what we´ve been doing…

A while ago we visited one very busy veterinary in Barranco, called “Elbas”. Many of most heartbreaking cases of street animals end up there. The reason for the trip was a donation from a friend, who heard about Layca.
We were surprised to find this dog so happy and healthy after what she had to go through. This once very ill rottweiler was brought back to life among other animals who suffered abuse or fought cancer. People´s love and dedication can do magic, believe it or not.

To learn more and support “Elbas” great work, follow their Facebook Page.

Olga Gomez was the one to let us know about the work that´s being done in the veterinary. She also donated s./110 to those who most needed it at the moment: two beautiful dogs Canela and Negrita.

YOUR HELP IS IMPORTANT!!!

These guys are doing very inspiring work, and the great thing is that they are not alone.
Here is another great place were lives are rescued on daily bases.
ACOSTA Veterinary is always open, as Doctor Blanca Acosta never sleeps, she´s always up to a new challenge, and she loves to win animal´s lives! That´s where our dear friend Ashi was cured, and there from found a new home.

There are several pets fighting for their lives in ACOSTA Veterinary right at this moment, and if you´d like to join and help, find contact information here.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!!

And now two of many survivers of the mounth!
Lolita and Chappi were both found on the streets of Callao. Both had sarna, both struggeled hunger and abuse.

Lolita
Chappi

We had to sell DVD´s to raise money to pay Lolita´s treatment. And we are greatful to everyone who joined that little cause!!!
Chappi´s treatment yet need to be paid. And everyone who´s willing to join and help, can reach us calling 989896382- Pedro and Viktoryia.
We also would like to thank Dr. Rolando Garay and “Mundo Natura” Veterinary for all support and help in both cases!!!

Chappi is finally going to his new family tomorrow, where he´ll be loved and taken care of.
Lolita is still waiting for her second chance… Please help us to find a loving home for this little angel!

Best part of it was probably disturbing cold air and hypnotizing moody sky…

Well, more about the trip:
the whole meaning of this little adventure was to share.
It may come as a surprise, but the folk in Cuzco, Peru (one of the most admired touristed spots in the world) has hard time survivng, children have to work, and most of them do not even need to dream, since they know- their lives will be dedicated to selling wool stuff to white and spoiled tourists…
So if you packed your backpack ready, once you are there- MIND TO SHARE. It’s easy, and good, and you can do it, so why not?
From Viktoryian and Pepo:
Huuuuuuge THANK YOU to those who joined this trip if not in person, with their hearts and minds.
Synne Hathway, Shannon Rose, Rosa Elelna Gutierrez, Angie Romero, Kris Yalta, Roxana Flores Bazan and Elizabeth Pachaslaines! Ladies, YOU ROCK!!!

Here it comes: a dream I´d like to share with you!

New York! My dream destination, the city I must see before I die (well, If everything goes as I plan, I´ve got like 50-60 years or so…), and I hope I´ll get a chance to experience it while I´m young and fresh, since “There’s always something extraordinary happening in the city that never sleeps.”

I must admit I wasn´t much into New York before. I used to be a child of Europe. Now I guess I´m a child of the world.

My interest for New York grow up together with my interest for photography. One way or another those two things seemed to be very connected to me. Probably because I´ve read and heard so much about the city where the art is happening everywhere: in the museums, streets, galleries, shops…

Another step to my New York obsession was “Sex and the City”, which “showed” me the city itself. Surely there is a lot more to learn about New York, and I´m waiting for a chance to do it.

Every dream comes true once… One little trip to New York is one of my dreams. Good luck to me!
And to everyone else, who can´t stop dreaming!

So far the ones who are sharing my New York dream can try a cheeper way to experience New York, such as take a look at it together with Candace Bushnell!

Life without limits…
Life maybe full of loss and pain,
but always free of fear…
Life where the sky is only an open door
to your own endless universe…
No stops and no doubts on the way,
faster than light, higher than haven…
and it´s your own hurting heart which is the key to your brightest happiness…

One sad true story…

A street puppy sick with sarna. By ViktoryiaN.

A street puppy sick with sarna. By ViktoryiaN.

This little dog was found in one of Callao streets and taken home by one kind peruvian man. The puppy had a hard form of sarna / mange and was already very weak. The man felt very sorry for the puppy, and was ready to fight for its life. Unfortunatly it was too late.
The dog died the next day after receiving his first injection with the medicine against sarna.
That´s right where a short story of the puppy´s life ends. And none will ever know where his story actually began.

Sarna / mange is not the only disease the street animals have to fight. But everything is possible to be cured if we only give our strong human hands to the little fighters!

This dog was found by Graciela on the local market. It has received 2 injections against sarna already, and he´s still alive. The pet needs his medicines and treatment, while other street dogs need vaccines. And we all can help them simply donating one sol to fight sarna and other animal´s diseases!

… while laying in bed at 6 in the morning: let myself stay there an unpredictable “longer” and being predictable or struggle myself out of bed and meet the sunrise. So I did. And I remembered once again that I love Callao at 6 in the morning. Actually it´s the only hour in a day when it makes sence to be awoken. Then the market opens for the crowd and the busses cross the avenue every 30 seconds, the world becomes so noisy, that I can barealy hear my own thoughts.
At 6 in the morning Callao is different. The night smell of the rotten fish from the ocean already left the area, and just before the smell of gasoline mixes up with the smell of recently killed chickens, there is a moment of fresh clean air, so I spoiled myself a little standing outside on the balcony with the cap of coffee watching the workers from the market falling into their daily routine. Just in a moment the same market in front of the house will become a noisy scary crowd, where it is so easy to get lost and in a hurry of the survival to forget that you are a human…

Yesterday was one of those days when I had to make a daily choice of being a man or being a human.

These two where left in a plastic bag in front of our house yesterday afternoon…

Two of those who world doesn´t miss...

Two of those who world doesn´t miss...

As we (my husband and me) found them, we had a choice to keep on walking or try to help them, since there is a little hope that someone else here will stop. And so we did… We spend the whole afternoon with those kids playing with them, feeding them and doing dry wash. Unfortunatly we couldn´t take them inside of the house where we live now. So we gave them to our neighbor, where they will stay until we find new families for them.

Who could ever leave him out there alone?...

Who could ever leave him out there alone?...

People are surprisingly cruel. Nothing breakes there hearts made of stone any longer. Then what about the hope for a better world? As for me.. I manage to keep it alive only at 6 in the morning, and I don´t wake up that early every day…

The big ladies (well, not me) were also once left on the market without food, water or care...

Of course they do!!! I never could understand those people who don´t believe that animals have got heart, soul and mind, just as we do. But they have got it all and it´s a fact! And that´s exactly what I´m trying to transmit through the portraits of animals. Here come some of them in black and white…

All these dogs are now living in the house of a great woman, who has been taking care of them and the other ones for many years. But she´s not getting any younger, so we started searching for new families for these pets!
